Today Marti baked her "Grand May's" classic cobbler, using the amazing peaches from Spain that currently abound in the markets here in Paris.
So delicious!

FRUIT COBBLER
Layer fruit or berries of your choice 1 inch deep in a 9x9 pan. Cover with 1 cup of sugar. Dot with butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
CRUST
1 cup flour
2 heaping teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1/3 cup milk + 1/3 cup water
Preheat oven to 400°. Mix above ingredients together and spread over fruit with knife. Bake 25 minutes, then lower temperature to 350° and bake an additional 20 minutes.
