PRINCE (JUNE 7, 1958 – APRIL 21, 2016).

Good night sweet prince/ And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!

So sad to bid farewell to one of the true originals in popular music. Prince shattered barriers, moved our asses on the dance floor with a zest and wit not seen before. I remember starting with the Controversy album, loving it. One day in the autumn of 1984 my Deadhead co-worker Marylou asked if I'd like to go with her to see The Little Purple One in concert outside Washington DC. Marti wasn't very much interested, so Marylou and I went together to see Prince & The Revolution at the Capital Centre in Landover MD. Prince was at the height of his Eighties success, driven in no small part by the then-new MTV. He rocked the house.

Twenty years later Prince & Beyonce killed at the 2004 Grammys.

In the summer of that year I saw Prince in concert again in Washington DC. A friend of a friend had access to $100 scalper tickets. Worth every penny!
